Examination

The pre-requisites for Preparatory Courses for Singapore – Cambridge GCE O Level

  • 15 years old and above; and
  • Completed Sec 3 education in Singapore Government School or year 9 education with pass in English; or
  • Other qualifications assessed based on equivalence to qualifications required by Ministry of Education(MOE), Singapore

Application Fee of SGD$299.60 is payable to STEi Institute Pte. Ltd. This fee is non-refundable under all circumstances. Student can make payment via TT, bank draft or cheque.

Above course fees do not include the registration and examination fees payable to Singapore Examination and Assessment Board.

Medical Insurance Scheme

STEi hereby confirms and undertakes to students that it has in place a medical insurance scheme for all its students.

Fee Protection Scheme

STEi provides fee protection scheme for all students as required by the Committee for Private Education (CPE) and is aligned with the EduTrust requirements.

Our appointed FPS provider is Liberty Insurance Pte Ltd.

All course fees are payable to “STEi Institute Pte Ltd” account with DBS Bank in Singapore (Account No. : 003-909401-9).

English Language

Students will be able to communicate effectively in English as a result of their development in the following areas:

  • Listen, read and view critically and with accuracy, understanding and appreciation, a wide range of literary and informational/ functional texts from print and non-print sources.
  • Speak, write and represent in internationally acceptable English (Standard English) that is grammatical, fluent, mutually intelligible and appropriate for different purposes, audiences, contexts and cultures.
  • Understand and use internationally acceptable English (Standard English) grammar and vocabulary accurately and appropriately as well as understand how speakers/writers put words together and use language to communicate meaning and achieve impact.

Mathematics

Aims to enable all students to:

  • Acquire mathematical concepts and skills for continuous learning in mathematics and to support learning in other subjects
  • Develop thinking, reasoning, communication, application and metacognitive skills through a mathematical approach to problem-solving
  • Connect ideas within mathematics and between mathematics and other subjects through applications of mathematics
  • Build confidence and foster interest in mathematics.

Additional Mathematics

Aims to enable students who have an aptitude and interest in mathematics to:

  • Acquire mathematical concepts and skills for higher studies in mathematics and to support learning in the other subjects, in particular, the sciences
  • Develop thinking, reasoning and metacognitive skills through a mathematical approach to problem-solving
  • Connect ideas within mathematics and between mathematics and the sciences through applications of mathematics
  • Appreciate the abstract nature and power of mathematics.

Physics

The aims are to:

  • Provide, through well-designed studies of experimental and practical physics, a worthwhile educational experience for all students, whether or not they go on to study science beyond this level and, in particular, to enable them to acquire sufficient understanding and knowledge to
    — Become confident citizens in a technological world, able to take or develop an informed interest in matters of scientific importance
    — Recognise the usefulness, and limitations, of the scientific method and to appreciate its applicability in other disciplines and in everyday life
    — Be suitably prepared for studies beyond Ordinary Level in physics, in applied sciences or in science-related courses

Principles of Accounts

It is the intent of this syllabus that students develop the abilities to prepare, communicate and use accounting information.

  • As preparers of accounting information, students are to develop
    — An understanding of the elements, theories and procedures of accounting;
    — An understanding of the accounting information system;
    — The skills of recording, organising, summarising and analysing business transactions;
  • As communicators of accounting information, students are to develop
    — An understanding of how accounting information is being presented;
    — The skills of presenting quantitative accounting information;
  • As users of accounting information, students are to develop
    — An understanding of how accounting information is being used; and
    — The skills of analysing, interpreting and evaluating business performance and status.

In the learning process, students will develop an understanding of the importance of professional ethics.

Students who successfully complete the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level examinations will be awarded by the Ministry of Education, Singapore and University of Cambridge International Examinations with reference to the subjects which they passed. Students should pass at least one (1) subject with grade 6/ credit level to be issued a certificate.

In order to be conferred the course award, the student must achieve a pass for STEi Examination, and at least 75% of class attendance. Student’s Pass Holders are required to maintain a class attendance of 90% and above.

Students may enrol in local institutions/ Polytechnic or overseas colleges and universities.

Note: Progression pathway is subject to the respective institutions’/ universities’ entry requirements at the point of application.
